Cooks' Cottage

Located in the beautiful Fitzroy Gardens since 1934, Cooks' Cottage was originally built in England in 1755, by the parents of Captain James Cook. Gogg and Maggog Clock at Royal Arcade

Gogg and Maggog in the Royal Arcade have been striking time on Gantts Clock since 1892, modelled on figures in Guildhall London, they symbolise the conflict between ancient Britons and Trojan invaders, having been captured in battle by the trojans they were made to stand as porters at the gateway of an ancient palace on a site later occupied by the Guildhall, its traditional for Gog to stand to the north and Magog to the south. They strike the bells every hour on the hour

Old Melbourne Gaol

Victoria's oldest surviving penal establishment provides an exhibition on 19th century gaol life, including the death masks and memorabilia of some of Melbourne's most notorious criminals. The gaol was closed in 1929. Night performances by candlelight, follow a warder through the gaol, as he relates its sorry history and the stories of those who were hanged there.
